Area Law Enforcement
Roughly fifty vehicles have been smeared with what seems to be human bodily fluid in the German town of Hanau near Frankfurt, as reported by law enforcement.
Vehicles, exterior walls and mailboxes were vandalized, in some cases with Nazi symbols, they reported in a statement.
Police report they were contacted during the night on Wednesday night, when a man observed that a vehicle in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been covered with a reddish-hued liquid.
The liquid had been placed in the form of a banned symbol, they added.
Police then located numerous other smeared cars and house walls in the nearby vicinity.
Swastikas are banned in Germany under laws banning the public exhibition of Nazi symbols.
Police report preliminary tests suggest the liquid was most likely human blood.
"There is still no indication as to its origin; officials are presently not informed of any physical harm in relation with the event," they added.
City officials announced they were attempting "to solve the incident" and have asked to the community for tips.
A high-ranking political figure stated the attack left him speechless and had to be solved quickly.
"This event hits the core of Hanau and revives the wounds of the extremist terrorist attack five years ago," he wrote on a platform, referring to the killing of nine individuals by a assailant focusing on individuals of foreign heritage in February 2020.
